Summary
This retrospective study investigated the value of thinner slice reconstructions in predicting major adverse cardiac events (MACEs) using cardiac CT. The study included 550 asymptomatic individuals and compared coronary artery calcium (CAC) scores from 1.5 mm and 3 mm scans. CAC scores from 1.5 mm scans were significantly higher, but no difference was found in the predictive accuracy of MACEs between the two scan types. In conclusion, CAC scores from 1.5 mm scans do not provide added prognostic value compared to 3 mm scans. The CAC scores were evaluated using commercial software, AVIEW CAC by Coreline Soft.
